Life at the school
Life at the school
A stay at the Kunsthøjskolen includes much more than just simple tuition.
The Kunsthøjskolen is the frame for an intense creative environment, where the social aspect plays an extremely important role in every day life as well as for the overall benefit of the student.
The Kunsthøjskolen can house up to 80 students on a 16 week course.
You will be delt up in five living areas, which we call families. The family group is a manageable entity. This is where we plan the different shared practical tasks.
Ordinary family cosiness is a widespread phenomenon.
All the students are obliged to take part in practical tasks in the school for a few hours each week.
The families take turns, for example, in running the student café, which is open 3 evenings a week, as well as arranging parties at the end of each period etc.
We stress that social life and occations work well and therefore we encourage everyone’s participation, responsibility and understanding in connection with that.
The social life at the Kunsthøjskolen as a rule gets suitably and controllably out of hand. With the artistic process as a starting point the possibilities are rich for making free student projects across the workshops as well as in the social connections outside of the teaching hours.
The workshops are open day and night and the being together in the workshops outside teaching hours is often an energy creating factor that enhances the artistic work.
What you can learn from following the work processes of others is invaluable and often much more, than you would have thougt in the first place.
Love’s joys and sorrows are completely your own responsability.
