Holbæk Slot Ladegaard 1930
The existence of Holbæk Slots Ladegaard can be traced back to the 13th century.
The current main building dates from the 18th century and underwent a radical restauration i the 1930s.
Durin her stay in San Cataldo, Italy in the beginning of the 1960s, the Danish sculpturess Ulrika Marseen came to think about the fact that none of the traditional Danish Folk High Schools offered tuition in artistic subjects. She prsented her thoughts for several influential people and as a result of their mutual efforts ”Holbæk Slots Ladegaard” became the domicile of the Kunsthøjskolen – the first school of it’s kind – in 1963.
